Sorghum Days

Last week I went to the Sorghum Days in LaVerkin. It was great to meet all of the local venders and spend time, and to better know a part of district 71 that I am afraid I don't know very well.

I am happy to say that the campaign is doing well. With the Labor Day holiday over we have kicked it into high gear and have upped our canvassing efforts. The Elect Colt Campaign has been every parade including Washington County Fair, Peach Days and the Washington County Round-Up. We should be participating in the Sorghum Festival in LaVerkin.

The Round Up Parade was a special treat for me because I got to ride in my Grandpa Wayne's 1930 Model-A Roadster that has been in Round-Up Parade's since the 1950's. I need to thank my cousin Brady for his great driving, and all of my volunteers who helped. We should start our walking now every Saturday, and several nights of the week so if you want to help please give me a call.

Painting Our Corner Blue

I am happy to say that the annual Democrats of Southern Utah Picnic was a massive success. We had a great turn out and served well over 100 hamburgers. One of the best moments of the Painting Our Corner Blue day was the story of the women who was walking her dog through Nisson Park and grabbed me to ask if this was the Republican or Democratic candidates. I told her who we were and she told me "Great I have been a life long Republican, and I want to change my registration because I think its time for a change, where do I go to do that?" I told her to hold on just one minute and I would be back with a form. Don Miller our candidate for House 74 had a stack forms which the women filled out and became the newest member of the Washington County Democratic Party. It just shows the great movement taking place and the way minds are changing, all leading up to the election upset coming November 7th.

Off to State Convention and the JJ Dinner

Well I am hitting the road today to go to the State Jefferson/Jackson Dinner, and State Convention. I am excited to hear from some great leaders like our own Jim Matheson, and South Dakota's Stephanie Herseth two Western Democrats that know what it means to hold an independent spirit and good a desire to bring common sense back to government. I will also be sitting at Emily Hollingshead's table Friday at the JJ Dinner which is quite an honor. I am sure that this week will increase my enthusiasim as I start campaigning. I hope to see all of you there, and look back for full reports on the weeks events.

P.S. the reason I am going up so early is that my best friend Brad Neve is getting married and I am going to be best man. Which means I am the one either keeps him there or says "I have two plane tickets to Mexico, and back way out of here."
